Montana State freshman women’s basketball player Malea Egan has entered the transfer portal, she announced Tuesday.

The Colstrip native has three years of college eligibility remaining.

“I am deeply grateful to MSU for the chance to represent them during my freshman year in basketball,” Egan wrote in a statement to 406mtsports.com. “I look forward to exploring opportunities with new programs and embracing the next chapter of my college basketball journey and education. I believe my best is yet to come, and I eagerly anticipate growing as both a person and a player, while also contributing as a valuable teammate on and off the court!”

Egan played 244 minutes in 25 games during the 2023-24 season, averaging double-digit minutes per game from January through March as the Bobcats dealt with numerous injuries. She averaged 1.3 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.6 steals per game with shooting marks of 14 of 44 (31.8%) from the field, 1 of 11 (0.91%) from 3-point range and 5 of 16 (31.3%) from the free throw line.

Egan helped the Colstrip Fillies win the 2022 Class B state title and earned an all-state selection as a senior in 2022-23.
