Doug Chabot of the GNFAC finds 9' of snow at the top of Yale Creek at Island Park. The new snow started as graupel, little ball bearings, which are easly breaking. In the next 48 hours this layer is worth looking out for. Lower in the snowpack are weak facets that have been avalanching in other ranges and cause us concern. I don't trust it and will approach avalanche terrain tentatively.
